The Protest the Hero Project 1 of 30

Today I devised a plan to create a new typography project. It might even turn into my thesis project. One of my quickest-rising favorite bands is Protest the Hero. Their lyrics are incredibly powerful, and that's rare for me to even acknowledge considering I usually pay very little attention to a song's words.

This band means quite a lot to me. Of their three major albums (Kezia, Fortress, and Scurrilous), each with ten songs, I have favorite bits of each. I'm planning to typographically interpret a line, phrase, or stanza from each of the 30 songs and turn it into a poster.

Tapestry is song #5 from their 2011 release, Scurrilous. Some lyrics:

Sometimes a knife right through your heart is exactly what you need

Myself, 10 Years 'Shoot It Out' ([link]) from their Feeding The Wolves album is one of my new favorites. The Hard Rock/ Metal theme is just awesome. Some lyrics in return...

I'm unsure of what our timeline is for our thesis projects (aka the BFA graphic design exhibition myself and the other seniors will have to put on to graduate), or if there are limitations/restrictions, but I can't help but think 30 11"x 17 posters of song lyrics and typography would look awesome covering a huge portion of the gallery wall.

And yay, I like 10 Years! Personally I liked The Autumn Effect better than Feeding the Wolves, but both are still good. Do you listen to 32 Leaves at all, or A Perfect Circle?

Heck, I'm just gonna throw my last.fm up here so you can get a sense of what music I like. I have the feeling we might have similar tastes.

I've never heard of those bands, but I'll browse that last.fm you posted and see what they're like. I've already noticed one band I like in there though: Lacuna Coil.
